Bicycle Restorations That Are As Unique And Individual As You Are!

In today’s consumption crazy World it is often difficult to find that perfect ‘something’, a high quality, long-lasting, everyday useful item that not only expresses your uniqueness but also has amazing benefits for both you and the environment.

At Mechanarchy, we purposefully set a limit on restoring only 8 bikes per year. We do this for two reasons, one is Environmental, and the other, is to provide you with a bike that you simply won't see reproduced anywhere else, not even one that's remotely similar.

Of course our main aim is to provide you with safe, comfortable, reliable, practical and affordable bicycle transportation, we just like to make sure that it’s also incredibly stylish, very unique and eye catching!

So Now You Can Spoil Yourself, and help The Environment!

By buying a Mechanarchy Restored Bicycle, you’ll be helping the environment in a myriad of ways. We scour the second hand stores, antique and collectable shops and garage sales in order to locate as many bikes and spare parts as we can. We also search hard rubbish, because, unfortunately, many good bicycles and the spare parts they contain are simply wasted in profit hungry metal re-cycling.

We use lots of ‘elbow grease’ to re-furbish and re-condition the best parts we can find and we minimize wherever possible the use of new parts. Because of our aim to reduce the amount of toxins entering the Environment, we do not re-chrome, which is why on occasions, you may find a blemish, but we believe that this adds to the uniqueness and character of your bicycle.

Your bike will always be fitted with new gear and brake cables / housings, brake pad’s, tyres, tubes, rim protectors and chain as these are essential safety items.

The restoration process includes the complete stripping down of your bike into its individual components, right down to the smallest bearing, bolt, nut and screw. We then meticulously clean every part using environmentally friendly degreasers and lots of manual elbow grease! All parts are fully inspected for wear and tear, and replaced if worn with either good condition used parts or, only when absolutely necessary, new parts.

You can of course choose to have new parts fitted to most areas of your bike, but this is rarely essential.

The frame and forks are re-painted in colours that match with the new panniers, and as a final touch, hand painted detail in a contrasting color is added, to give your bike a truly unique and visually stunning appearance.

All chrome parts are thoroughly de-rusted, cleaned and polished, spokes are checked for correct tension and the wheels are ‘trued’. Your bike is then fully assembled with fresh grease and lubricant and the gears and brakes are adjusted and tested for correct operation.

Vinyl and plastic parts are cleaned and sprayed with a high quality protectorant and finally, your new bike is fitted with a custom built Mechanarchy Pannier Rack and a pair of beautifully presented, high quality, hand made canvas pannier bags.

Ron D Swan panniers are designed and manufactured in Castlemaine, Victoria, from re-claimed and discarded canvas, with provenance that matches the era of your bike. They are, just like your bike, both stylish and practical and will provide you with lots of secure, waterproof picnic, shopping and clothes carrying space, something you just can't get with a wicker basket!

Your new bicycle can be shipped to your door, anywhere in Australia. It comes complete with a Unior Bicycle Tool Kit, A Users / Care and Service Manual (printed on re-cycled paper!), which also includes information about your bicycles Make, Model and Identification Number, everything you need to take the very best care of your new investment.

And of course, there is a full 6 month written guarantee against faulty workmanship / parts.
