Mechanarchy, Artificing Unique Bicycle Stands
This is the Mechanarchy Center Stand fitted to a Yuba Mundo. As you can see, it is made out of an old set of Kids Bike Handlebars and the Headset.

This style of stand can be made for any bike and, can include, as this one does, a quick release / locking mechanism allowing the stand to be released or locked in either the 'up' or 'down' position via a cable. The need for this stand arose when it became clear that the majority of the Commercially available stands simply wouldn't cope with the amount of weight being carried on this Yuba.

Others that are Commercially available carried an incredibly hefty price tag to go along with their design.

These Kids handlebars and Headsets are readily available at Local Tip / Refuse Centers and are therefore very low or no cost and very strong.

Home
This is what some Commercially Made Center Stands can do to your Bike Frame / Stand attachment point. These stands, are only located in at one point, and they easily 'peel' away the bracket at the Welds.

This was re-welded before attaching the new Mechanarchy Center Stand. This problem will never occur again, because the new stand is attached at two points and the weight is more evenly distributed.

The quick release / locking mechanism is an old brake lever and cable which fits snugly under the seat.

A spring lifts the stand up immediately it is released from the 'down' position.

What will they help hold up? The bike at approximately 32 Kg's and Cargo of 40 Kg's. Combined, about 75 Kg's.
